Every photograph on this site comes from Wikimedia Commons, under a Creative Commons licence, a CC0 waiver or in the public domain. We use no stock libraries and no operator press photos, so what you see is a real coast rather than a brochure.
The table below lists each file we use, the author named on its Commons page, the licence, and a link to that page, where the full licence text and the author's own terms live. Some of those licences require attribution and some require that derivatives stay free; where a licence asks for a credit, the photograph carries one under the image as well.
Files are resized and re-compressed for the web, and nothing else is altered: no crops that change what is in the frame, no colour rewrites, no composites.
If you took one of these photographs and the credit is wrong, or you want it taken down, write to us through the contact page and we will correct or remove it. The about page explains how the rest of a page is put together.
